Breaking My Stride -- Safety Edition

Breaking My Stride -- Safety Edition
Maybe I just needed a faster dog.
Well, a lot has happened since last week. First of all I've fallen in love with the born to run movement. It is a brilliant Ted Talk that introduced the world to one of the newest oldest ideas (see video).
As I did my research I received some wisdom that I was probably teaching myself to over-stride last week. (I would post the link, but I don't want you learning bad habits!) So before the new knee pain I was feeling got worse, I went back to my ordinary stride...but guess what? I'm still running WAY faster. I wish I'd ever clocked it, but my heart's beating and my ability to catch up with Roscoe bear witness.
The only physical explanation for this is just pushing myself more since I saw myself do it last week, and something about me mowing my center of gravity. I'm defintely able to do more than I can explain. And it feels awesome!
The point is my friends, yes you can! You can do it! You can do it safely! And you can reach your goals sustainably. And you can encourage the next runner beside you at the same time! (See the video for more on that!)

Breaking My Stride

Breaking My Stride

Though this phrase normally refers to someone being pulled off their game, this week I had an awesome experience breaking a perceived barrier.

Perhaps I’ve been inspired by a certain tri-athlete, who shall for not much longer remain nameless. And perhaps my mom’s competitive streak is coming out in me, but I’m not too keen on having a running buddy who has to slow down a bunch for me.

So last week, the first time in a while I’ve gotten to run without a dog by my side, I got the thought to stretch my legs out a bit, pretend like I was my long-legged daughter Michaela. And sure nuff I did it! Then after about 2 years of running at this same comfy pace, I actually got faster! I was like, I wonder how long I can keep this up without exhaustion. But I just kept going and going.

For someone who only works out to maintain her weight, this was really exhilarating. So I’m making goals now, gonna run a 5K this fall. And I’m excited to see what all happens!

You ever stop to wonder if you’re more of a “tough mudder” than you thought? (That’s more competition language for you newbies.) Look for ways to push past your weaknesses this week. Stretch your legs a bit and share your journey with someone else who needs encouragement.

So, who joins Plentyoffish.com on Saturday and has Mr. Wonderful on their door by Tuesday? I mean, that's as good as Amazon.com! So I'm not even sure that just happened to me, but if it did happen, it's only because of God.
You see, I asked God back in September if I could join a dating site and He said not yet. I asked again Friday night and He said ok. Moral of the story is, I am such a different person relationality than I was in September of 2014 it's crazy town! Point being "ask God, obey God, well done."
Need some help with that? If you haven't read the PDF copy of my first book, Before You Quit On Your Destiny--Hearing the Voice of God. I'm sure it'll be a blessing to you. I'd love to share with you a few testimonies I've gotten from people that have read it as well.

Let God surprise you with His love today. Isaiah 1:19 can be for you! "If you be willing and obedient, you will eat the best of the land."

The Kingdom of Heaven is a Perspective Shift

The Kingdom of Heaven is a Perspective Shift

This is a week of soaking for me. I'm taking in more than I really have to give. My church is having church 5 days straight. That gives me a nice mental and spiritual bath in the Word! But I wanted to give the tip of the iceberg to a revelation that is brewing.
It's so powerful when one has identified their unique purpose. The first night was a comedian who explained our lives in terms of setup and punch line. Last night, one of the speakers described life in terms of atmosphere because he is an environmental scientist.
Something that I have probably told every client is that "God has a goal. His goal is to increase our faith no matter where we are and who we are." What's so cool about that is this. Jesus never spoke about miracles. He spoke about the Kingdom of Heaven, and miracles came to pass.
The Kingdom of Heaven, says the life coach, is a perspective shift. Every week miracles occur in my sessions, which I'm so privileged to witness, because I speak from my unique perspective on life.
My greatest prayer is that you find the unique perspective that you've been given for the world. I desire this so that we can take advantage of the miracles only you can manifest.

Fighting Fair

Fighting Fair

I was planning on doing Part 3 of Surprised by Love, but that will have to wait. I was surprised myself by a fight I got engaged in WITH MYSELF. So how do you fight fair with yourself?
1. Don't blame it on someone else! Most people don't know they're fighting with themselves when another person is involved, but if you have mixed feelings in the relationship, you first have to resolve your internal conflict.
2. Respect the shadow and the light. Listen to both sides of how you feel and truly determine where you're going to land on this issue. When we suppress and don't acknowledge how we feel, it never goes away, and we take it out on others.
3. Honor your special needs. Now's not the time for "shoulds." What do you really need to get through this? Not stuff it down or not deal with it, but deal with it. Have the hard conversations, be vulnerable, be alone.  Take care of you.
These are my rules for fighting with myself. Feel free to use them until you come up with yours, because you don't have to put up with internal conflict indefinitely.
