Morning Meds, Day 19
Flying
Watching Meryl and Maks dance this week on Dancing With The Stars reminded me of the first time dance inspired me. I was in high school at an ACT-SO competition which was for black students in the arts and sciences.
In the Dance competition there was a young man in sparse African attire who looked like he could fly and made me believe the same about myself. It was a testimony to hard work, determination and inspiration. It was beautiful.
Last Night's Reality show transcended the medium. I want to work hard, I want to finish, I want to fly.

Cocooning
Inspiration can come from the strangest places right? I'm not a fan of the "wtf," but I think this question actually is brilliant, and like many things in nature, applicable to our lives.
Do we know when we're about to bloom and transform? I think I know why the caterpillar builds the cocoon. I think he's preparing a grave. True resurrection only follows death.
What a comforting thought when we think we're down for the count. The next time you think that you're about to die perhaps you're about to grow wings to fly.

Sweet Nothings
(Part 2)
There was a rumored 400 years of silence between the Old and
New Testaments of the Bible. Sometimes there is a melody in that silence,
sometimes there is just an anticipation that builds and builds.
I’m sure I won’t rival THAT
amount of time, but how ready I have become to hear God’s voice, anything…just
anything it seems will do. That seems significant when what I heard this
morning, for instance, was not what I thought I wanted to hear.
It’s such a privilege to hear Him
speak. There’s such a grace in experiencing the “peace that passes all
understanding” that Jesus spoke about. Like a mother giving birth to a baby,
all the pain is forgotten, when the promise arrives.

Morning Meds, Day 15
Morning Meds, Day 15
Sweet Nothings
There is a song no ear
can hear, a melody in the silence…
Music is a near constant in my house. I never thought of the
benefits to us until I read a study that talked about the importance of having
living things in the home, that it was very good for us as breathing, changing
organisms to have that represented in our homes through plants, candles,
fountains and/or music.
Music is indeed alive and sets an atmosphere. So much so that every once in awhile I can’t
listen to anymore, not even instrumental.
Sometimes my spirit is whispering so quietly that I have to tune
everything else out, with a fast, with a music break.
This week has been marked as a time of stillness for me and
I’m taking the time to reflect and know God more intimately. Just like we’ll
often take a journey which makes us appreciate our home a little more somehow.
Sometimes we must play the opposite for our definition to emerge.
This is my first time embracing this season because I enjoy
dancing and singing so much, but how else is change to occur if I don’t step
outside of this comfort zone for a time? And sharing it with you with the
possibility of encouraging you makes this song of silence even sweeter.

Recently I revived my blog page, www.AWiseWoman1ncesaid.blogspot.com.
I’ve added a serial portion to it where I post weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
In it, I post what I call “Practical Inspiration.” Especially if you’re not on

few highlights from past posts to whet your appetite. I wish you could be here
with me now, I can never tell anyone about the page without laughing…who starts
a blog of selfie quotes? Well, maybe it’s not so rare! Perhaps that’s where we
got the phrase, “It’s like I always say…”

Morning Meds, Day 13
Day 13
On my Sat. morning run, it was easy to see the effect this winter had on my beloved forest preserve. The trees looked beat up, and the ground was strewn with debris. The pretty weather could not cover up the reminders of a long difficult winter. Do you know someone experiencing winter in their heart? I've been thinking about my community, single parents and the formerly married. I've been thinking about how life takes from us, more than we thought we had to give, and how it often leaves us barren and broken like those trees.
And I've been wondering what I can give to them. On the one year anniversary of my divorce, as I experience springtime in my businesses and my heart, I know it's because I planted seeds of faith despite the cold winds of fear that blew. I fought for me and my family. I guess I now want to fight for them too.
I'm conducting market research to find out exactly what my community needs. How can they use a coaches services? Counselors can help them reconcile their past, but what do they need to move forward and away from winter? If you know someone who's not thriving in their single parenthood or is burdened by the scars of their divorce, please refer them to me for this free 30 min conversation. Even if it doesn't help them, it may help someone else.
Pass on my email or phone number with my gratitude. And may we all appreciate the warmer weather a little more this year than ever. We're all survivors of a sort. ..now it's time to thrive!
